ENDUPOTO PRIMARY SCHOOL - KERERE

Endupoto Primary school started this year on 10th March 2008. It has only one class and a rainwater harvesting tank. This school is located at Kerere in Losinyai village in an area called Endupoto. Endupoto is a maasai name means fruits. This is Maasai area which is outside Arusha region. Its along Simanjiro. The area is very dry and nothing grows there. There is no school around so many maasai boys and girls doesn't go to school. The nearby school is very far so children fail to walk up to there. During rain season there is a lot of floods and temporary rivers so children stop from going to school for some month till rain stops.

Since we started the school there we received 131 children from the village. We just build One classroom so the student has got two session to attend. One from 8:00a.m - 12:00 p.m and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00p.m. We have two teachers. One rainwater harvesting tank. There is no water nearby the area. The school also have four holes of Toilet. The student take porridge when they attend classes. We have one cooker for making their meal.

We have a lot to do for the school. Teacher stays far away from the school so we need to have at list a teachers house. School office, more classes, more toilet holes, well for water, dispensary the area is full of malaria and a lot of school material and equipments. Please we need you to join hands with us to make it work and make our dream come true so that we can do this together. We have faith one day we will have a university there.

We also need your prayers so much, so please pray for us and the work the Lord presented to us.

We thank St. Wilfrid's Episcopal Church - Calfonia for their support in starting this project and also thanks to Christ Church Greenwich for their support. We thank Cheryl and Karen and Pam individually for their support in starting this project.

MOTHERS UNION

KARIBU MOTHERS UNION

Background: This is a union of church women in the Anglican communion. In other parts of the world the name May be Womens Fellowship, Episcopal Church Women and the like. All in all it means women of the church. The Union was started by a Pastors wife called Mary Sumner 1876 in the U.K. since then adopted by all Dioceses constitutions where a Diocese is formed or started, then Mothers Union like other groups of the church also starts. Our MU started June 20th 1982 when our Diocese started. Leadership of the Union include the Bishops wife as adviser or called the President. Diocesan Bishop as "Mlezi". Chairperson chosen after every three years during the big conference where each Parish is presented by six members. We have up to date 56 branches. Our first Bishops wife was Mrs. Mariam Mohamed from 1982 - 1991. From 1991 August up to date is Mrs. Matha Makundi wife of Simon Makundi the Diocesan Bishop. Apart from chosen Leaders during the conference, there is a percent employed MU Secretary whose salary is supported by Mary Sumner house office in the U.K. named after the pioneer work carried out based on five objectives:

1. To uphold Christ's teaching on the nature of man and to promote its wider understanding.

Activities carried out of each objective differ due to culture and taboo of the women around but we can say in general that seminars meetings are carried out to help reach to the targeted. As Aids become a threat now care for orphans, widows and the HIV/AIDS affected families. Projects to keep women busy and boost their economical status items, tea and bites, selling of crops depending on the availability of what can be bought. At the head office, efforts to have permanent projects like house for rent. Helping the community and at present building a hostel for the Maasai Girls which will take us long as local contribution isn't much. We host 40 girls now at the hostel.

2. To encourage parents Bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church.

3. To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians United in prayer, worship and service.

4. To promote conditions in society which are favorable to stable family life and the protection of children.

5. To help those whose family life has met with adversity.

Other activities include making a difference in other peoples lives as we share our blessing with the needy. 2Corth. 1:3-4.

Nursery schools: We link with Parishes encourage them to mature children from the age of 3-6 before they join primary education. We have 33nursery schools and we hope to start more and more as we can.

PROFILE

The Diocese of Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the 21 Diocese of the Anglican Church of Tanzania in the Wordwide Anglican Communion. The Diocese stretches over three regions of mainland Tanzania - namely Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Manyara regions. Currently the Diocese has 50 parishes and 61 ordained pastors.

The Diocese has its headquaters in Arusha, a city situated at the center of Africa (Cape to Cairo) - A city that has come to be known as the "Geneva of Africa" Arusha hosts the East African community and it houses the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda. Arusha is the "hub" of Tanzania's tourist industry, thus giving the Diocese convenient position and link to all the important tourist attractions not only Tanzania but also the whole of the Eastern Africa region.

Like most Anglican dioceses in the developing world, the biggest challenge has lately been how to take the gospel to the un-reached without external assistance. DMK is going through the same hardships. Alomost 80% of the diocesan budget depends on donor support - a situation we want to reverse
